To connect your Google Analytics data to Backona AI, follow these steps:
1. Grant access during sign-in
When you first signed in to Backona AI with your Google account, you were asked to grant access to your Google Analytics 4 data. If you accepted, Backona AI should already have access.
2. Go to Settings
-
Open Backona AI and click on Settings from the main dashboard.
3. Check the Google Analytics section
-
You'll see dropdown menus labeled Account name and Property name.
-
In the Account name dropdown, select the Google Analytics account linked to your website.
-
Then choose the appropriate Property name—this identifies the specific website or app you want to analyze.
-
Optionally, update the Website configuration name so the chatbot can refer to your site correctly in conversations.
4. Make sure the integration is enabled
-
After selecting the account and property, ensure the integration toggle or checkbox is enabled.
-
This tells Backona AI to actively use your Google Analytics data for insights.
5. If you don’t see your account or property listed
You might not have completed the permission step. In that case:
-
You’ll see a blue message with a Provide permissions button.
-
Click Provide permissions and follow the prompts from Google carefully.
-
Make sure to approve access to the correct Google account and all requested permissions.
6. Still not working?
Here are a few things to check:
-
Make sure your Google account has at least Viewer access to the Google Analytics 4 property.
-
Ensure the property is actively collecting data.
-
If you don’t see anything in the dropdowns, your account might not have access, or the property may not be set up correctly.
Once everything is connected and enabled, go to the chat and start asking questions about your Google Analytics data.
